Soon-tofu and Storets, thanks Korea.

Oh Hai!
What's new?
Me? Just freaking out over storets.com, as usual. They've been rampaging on spring additions lately and I can't help but check the site almost hourly.
What? You haven't heard of Storets? Well, it's a good thing I bumped into you today. You can stop shopping H&M for designer knock offs already and head your yourself over to the world of cheap Korean fashion.

Now, I'm not saying you should stop shopping locally or buying quality denim and fine leather footwear, but for all that other stuff, the trendy stuff you'll only wear a couple of times... go here. Furthermore, I'll advise you not to sleep on these pieces, items frequently sell out within hours.

There it is, the cats out of the bag. You're welcome.

Mishka NYC X Diego's Horror Corner

Wouldn't you know it. Our own guest blogger Diego Bergia, the big rotten brain behind Diego's Horror Corner has been asked by our friends at Mishka NYC to take a stab at routine horror movie review for Bloglin. He's begun with a bit on the new Friday The 13th film in theaters currently (check it out). But chill, Diego still has 3 more installments of decade top 5 flicks and plenty of horror buzz posts right here.

Incidentally, Jillian and I are loosing our minds on Mishka's Spring Collection titled Hallelujah! As a first, the brand has produced a full line of women's cut and sew in addition to men's. Take a seat, grab a soda and devour the lookbook here.

Five & Dime '09

Stressed out? Pinching pennies? You say the economy's got you down? How about a little success story amidst a recession?

Well, the second annual Five & Dime Lifestyle Trade Show opened today at Polson Pier. Some industry big guns joined up for '09 accompanying an already solid exhibitor roster, Alife, Levis, Mishka, Rocksmith, New Balance, Rvca, Vans, Enjoi, Freshjive, Insight and Etnis, to name a few.

A skateboarding contest presented by Hrs. and a live Art Show transpired this afternoon. Later, DJ's Serious & Fathom headline the "Mixxer" exhibitors and friends event from 8pm - 2am.

Five & Dime is buzzing and progress marches on!

Fancy this.

When I was a kid I used to fake sick at least once a month so I could spend the day at my Nanny's instead of school. Nan would tuck the blankets around me and I'd lay on the couch and watch black and white movies. At lunch time, she'd make me soup and egg-salad sandwiches with the crust cut off, sliced on an angle into 4's. Her sandwiches always tasted finer than my mom's. It wasn't the bread or the mayonnaise, or even the way she boiled them eggs, it was the way she cut and placed them attractively on the plate. Point is, fancy is better...

While on the subject of fancy and apropos of, our friend Lori-Anne Krausewitz does this wonderfully elegant headwear line called La Krause. Each piece is handmade using various feathers, netting, fabrics and reconstructed felt hats, turning any old outfit into red carpet grade glamorous.
Recently the line has snagged the attention of Flare, Toronto Star, National Post and Toro Magazine and is available locally at ShopGirls. Check out Lori-Anne's website here.
Now, fancy that.

alien invasion

Where is Lepos?

The elusive alien's most recent sighting was in Tony Hawk's Project 8 and his paper likeness has been pasted all over the downtown cores of major cities but Lepos is still on the move. His next destination: under your cardigan or flannel.

Our other-worldly friend has been caught in the crosshairs by creator Diego Bergia, in a new series of T-shirts.

They're $25 - email help@whereislepos.com to pick one up!

-5 degrees celsius and overcast.

If winter has got you down put a little gravy on it.

So, Toronto streetwear head gun Matthew George and Willow Perrod came together for Fall 2008 to birth the (_NV_S_BL_) Tailors line, a collection of sturdy, staple, leather outwear.

I've been fiending for the Down Leather in black since November and, just days ago gladly put on and purchased my very own. Worth the wait.

As for spring, the 2009 collection will arrive in stores shortly. In Toronto, available suitably at Nomad. You can view the lookbook HERE.

Puttin' 5 karats in my baby girl's ears.

I ran into Katelyn Joliat this weekend and got to talking about the jewellery she makes. Her current line focuses on silver and gold-plated bows, adorning necklaces, rings, earrings and broaches.
Katelyn is a talented local jeweller who is bound for big success. Her pieces are available for purchase at two of our favourite Queen West boutiques: Delphic and Franny Vintage.

Here's a few flicks of that shine...
