This week I've chosen a juke 45 single on Money Label, titled Shorty The Pimp by Don Julian & The (Meadow) Larks. Released in 1972, the song was the theme to an obscure blaxploitation film that never screened.I first came across this song 3 years ago when I was researching 1960's and 70's era lowrider cruising music and recognized it from Too $hort's opening sample on In The Trunk. This tune is funky soul at it's best, which is of course, a little sleezy.
